Agora Boreal Alias Benji & Mezen

A humorous comic about animal life

An unexpected friendship

A new family moves to Saint-Tarla-de-Taouin

New neighborhood, new life, new challenges. In this village north of Quebec City, wild animals and domestic animals live in peace… but they don’t mingle.

The cultural differences between the two groups are too great, and mistrust prevails.

Nevertheless, life is good and fair for the region’s inhabitants. What are the chances that a single encounter could trigger a chain reaction that will shake the entire village and forest?

Mezen

The Outcast

Having grown up in the forest of Saint-Tarla-De-Touin his entire life, Mezen is a fine example of wild animal culture. Cunning, strong, and full of life, this young fox also stands out for his kindness, warm character, and welcoming attitude. Yes, Mezen has acquired the best qualities of wild animals, as well as those of domestic animals.

However, his charm is a bit of a coin toss. Like all foxes, Mezen has an innate talent for getting himself into trouble. In any new encounter, it is either pleasant or catastrophic, rarely somewhere in between.

Having recently broken his own record for the level of trouble he’s attracted, Mezen must spend some time away from the wild animals… It would have been a solitary retreat, if he hadn’t met Benji, finding there a friend for life.

Benji

The Newcomer

Raised among humans, Benji is one of the most loyal and pure-hearted dogs in the land. Energetic, curious, and sociable, this young Jack Russell can’t sit still. His greatest joys are making his owner and family happy, as well as making new friends.

Benji isn’t afraid of moving to a new place—quite the opposite! He is eager to explore and make friends with all the dogs in the neighborhood.

Of course, he never imagined that his first encounter in Saint-Tarla-De-Taouin would be with a fox. Unsure how to behave around a wild animal at first, he eventually grows attached to this new companion—the first friend of his new life.

Life in Saint-Tarla-de-Taouin

The Region's Hotspots

Three locations are important for the animals of Saint-Tarla-De-Taouin.

Renemora: The wild animals of the region have accomplished a rare feat—establishing a functional animal society. Located in the heart of the forest, the village is a place for exchange and rest.

The Loyalty Park: At the opposite end of the region, a very large dog park attracts all the human families of the village. It is the perfect meeting place for domestic animals to catch up, make friends, or find playmates.

The Agora Boreal: Midway between the two territories, a small forest island with a dolmen serves as a neutral meeting area for wild and domestic animals.

The Full Moon Gatherings

At each full moon, wild and domestic animals hold a meeting at the Boreal Agora to discuss important matters. This allows them to maintain a harmonious living environment and to connect with the opposing group.

The Scourge

Not everything is rosy in Saint-Tarla-De-Taouin. A monster lurks in the area and occasionally claims victims. Generally, if one follows the advice given by the region’s leading animals, there is nothing to fear.
